JD could not sleep the whole of last night and his heavy eye bags shown. He was dragging his feet to work when someone called out to him from behind. JD turned around and saw Robbie who quipped, "Geez! You looked horrible. Just been exorcised? Whatever happened?" JD let out a short breath and replied, "I am not in a mood to bitch with you." Then he stopped in his tracks, stole a quick glance over Kai?s cubicle, empty.
Robbie noticed the look of disappointment on JD's face and queried, "You ok? What's wrong? Is Kai in the picture?" JD doesn't dare to look at Robbie and was surprised at his attentiveness but can't help himself and asked, "Robbie, you know Kai well?" Robbie shook his head and took in a deep breath, "He has targeted you? Listen to me, JD. You are no match for him, he is a Casanova. Once he set his sight on someone, they can't escape. And I mean them, you know what I mean' them as in both a he and a she. Don't get hurt."
JD couldn't believe what he just heard and repeated himself, "What do you mean? You are not joking with me, right? Robbie, you know I am gay and I don't hide that fact. I am proud of my sexual orientation and I hope you don't exploit on that and said hurtful or untruthful things about Kai, just for the fun of it." With that, JD stormed off.
JD was furiously typing away at his keyboard when his phone rang, "JD, this is Janice from the receptionist counter. There is a gentleman by the name of Hendrix who has an appointment with you at 3.30pm. Would you be able to come down to receive him?" JD looked at his watch and spoke over the phone, "Ok, I will coming down now. Thanks!" He was cursing and swearing at himself for forgetting about the appointment with his client.
A tall well built man, is his 30s, was standing at the receptionist counter when JD approached. JD could not help but notice the stranger's protruding hard chest that threatened to burst his shirt button, and that face, a very rugged manly features that doesn't really smile. "What a fine man he is!" JD thought to himself. "JD, this is Hendrix. He has been waiting for you." Janice said. "Oh! Hi, Hendrix. JD here. Sorry to have kept you waiting. Let's proceed to the meeting room please." JD shook hands with Hendrix and felt the familiar hard positive handshake of Kai.
"You looked awfully familiar. I have met you somewhere before." Hendrix warmed up to JD immediately when they were inside the meeting room. JD looked at him and found him smiling, "Hmm?I don't recall seeing you before. But we should start discussing your portfolio, I believe you are a busy man." It took the meeting 2 hours to end, JD walked Hendrix to the lift lobby. Hendrix inched closer to JD and said, "I remember now, I bought you a drink in Happy few nights back. Would you like to have dinner later? I can pick you up if you are free."
JD looked straight at Hendrix's rugged handsome face and now find this man awfully familiar and finally recalled he did bought him a drink at the bar last week. JD smiled, "What a small world! I couldn't recognize you under all these lights. Thanks for the drink that night!" "Glad you recalled, so how's dinner tonight?" Hendrix pressed. At this instant, the lift opened and Kai stepped out, bumping into JD and Hendrix. Realizing his folly, he apologized to the 2 guys and when he saw JD, his eyes darted away and he scrambled back to the lift and pressed the close button.
JD was hurt by Kai's behaviour, he had not seen him the whole day and now he didn?t even say hi. JD's thoughts were disturbed by Hendrix's persistent voice, "I will pick you up later, ok? Is 7.30pm a good time? I will make reservation at?" JD cut off Hendrix and snapped, "No! I am not free tonight. I will call you when your application is approved, Mr Hendrix."
